If you are planning a trip or thinking of vacationing in Maui, you are in the right place!

Below are our family’s favorite sights to visit and things to do!

Spend a day at Kaanapali Beach! One of the most famous beaches in Maui is Kaanapali Beach. Not only is it conveniently located 3 miles from the charming town of Lahaina, but it’s also where kids can snorkel, ride waves, spend hours building sandcastles, and splash in the water. Plus, don’t forget to catch a cliff diver diving off Black Rock at sunset every evening from 5:30-6:30 at the Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa.

There are also lots of resorts, shops, and restaurants there with a wide variety of food for all types of eaters, even the picky ones. 🙂

Eat Shave Ice! A trip to Hawaii can’t be complete without shave ice! Our kids loved it and it was perfect to cool them off in the warm sun!

Snorkel in Kapalua Beach! Protected by a coral reef, one of the best spots to snorkel is Kapalua Beach! Bring your own snorkel gear or rent them there, it’s the perfect place to get acquainted with the tropical fish and sea turtles from the island! There is a small parking lot above the beach, but there is also parking along the streets.

Go Off-Roading! If you want a little adventure, consider off-roading with your kids! You can ride a portion of the Road to Hana or go hiking in the many trails on the island! For our family, we just loved driving off the beaten path to see the mountains, valleys, and look for whales off the coast!

Trek to the top of Haleakala! What better way to see Maui than to see it from the top?! The views are amazing and there’s also a Jr. Ranger by the gift shop to help answer questions! Our kids loved learning the history of the island, volcanoes, animals, and plants found on the island!

Golf at the world-famous Kapalua Golf Course! Teeing off at the Kapalua Golf Course was one of our favorite activities on the island! We went early to the driving range and were able to rent the clubs to go along with our bucket of balls! It made for a wonderful and relaxing morning.

Explore Black Sand Beach! Right in Wailea is a beautiful, black beach. If you have never seen black sand before, it is such an awesome sight! Our kids loved playing in the sand and marveling at its beauty.

Quench your thirst with a tropical smoothie! Going to Hawaii would not be complete without enjoying the local fruits and fruit smoothies! The Olowalu Juice Stand was our favorite spot to savor the best of Maui in a cup! Our kids loved the coconut smoothie and I loved the fresh sugarcane drink!

Visit the Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm! Just a short distance from Haleakala National Park is the beautiful lavender farm where you can spend the afternoon among the clouds! Not only does the smell of lavender help you to feel centered and peaceful, but the views from the mountain are simply breathtaking! You can also purchase food for the kids and grab some souvenir from the shop for friends and family at home!

Learn about the tropical plants in Maui! Between Kaanapali Beach and Kapalua Beach is the Maui Tropical Plantation! Take a tour of the plantation to learn all about the beautiful and diverse tropical plants on the island, go ziplining, shop in the market, enjoy a nice meal, or take a stroll through the gardens! It is definitely a place to visit!

Dress the part! What better way to remember your time in Maui than with matching Hawaiian outfits?! Many families wear matching outfits for pictures on the beach or luaus! Each time we go, we make sure to match and take pictures for memories!

Our kids watching a diver dives of the cliff at Black Rock during sunset.

I hope this gives you ideas of some fun things you can do with your kids while in Maui!
