One of my favorite November activities is the Turkey-in-Disguise Writing Project!
To launch the writing activity, I read Turkey Trouble by Wendi Silvano. If you haven’t read it, it’s a must-have! Not only is it a fun read, but a great opportunity for the students to take on the perspective of the main character, the Turkey!
In the book, the Turkey hides from the farmer and tries to disguise himself as other farm animals. Once the read aloud is complete, the students will have a chance to choose which disguise is their favorite and write to us, humans and convince us that they are really what they look like instead of a turkey.
